State Graduation Requirement
A law went into effect on July 1, 2016, stating that any student who wants to graduate from high school or earn a GED must past the Arizona Civics Test. This test is the same as the test given by the U.S. Immigration Service. It has 100 questions about the history of the United States, our government, and our culture. Students must correctly answer at least 60 of the questions to pass.
The test is offered to all juniors and seniors at San Carlos High School. Students will have five opportunities during the year to take the test. Students may retake the test as many times as necessary. Anyone who wants to earn a GED may contact the district office to schedule a date to take the test.
Study materials for the exam, including the exact questions and answers, are available on the Study for the Test page at the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services website.
