Our Exceptional Student Services (Special Education) Department is dedicated to providing appropriate and effective educational opportunities for our students with learning or other disabilities.
We ensure each individual’s dignity and worth in our schools through Individualized Education Plans (IEP’s) and by providing supplementary services such as speech and language pathology and physical therapy.
Evaluation is an essential element in the Exceptional Student Services (Special Education) process. The IDEA '04 regulations set specific requirements for conducting both an initial evaluation and any reevaluations. It is vital that public education agencies (PEAs) and parents of children suspected of having disabilities be knowledgeable about those requirements. We encourage school personnel and parents to download our Understanding Exceptional Student Services document to assist with navigating through the multidisciplinary evaluation process.
