TEACHER - ENGLISH
On the board in Mrs. Curd's classroom there is a message to her students that reads, “I am so honored to iłch’ígonsh’aah (teach) you and to bígoch’iłaah (learn) from you.” Sarah is humbled to be an English teacher at San Carlos High School. In 2019 she graduated from Marshall University in her home state of West Virginia with a double major in English and secondary education and upon graduating moved to the San Carlos Apache Reservation to teach. In college, Sarah was involved with an organization called Nations Montana which gave her the opportunity to mentor high school students on the Blackfeet Reservation and encourage them to process their experiences through creative writing. In her three years at San Carlos, Sarah has enjoyed building relationships with students and helping them fall in love with reading and writing! She has also pioneered, “Mend: A Mentoring Program,” which gives students space to prioritize their social and emotional well-being as well as work toward academic goals. Sarah is honored and thankful to get to be a part of her students’ stories. Outside of work Sarah likes writing, reading, singing, and visiting national parks. She is married to her husband, Chad, and she loves knowing God and seeking His will for her life.
